Is a Tattoo Studio Suitable for Children? Children and Tattoos… A Challenging Combination. Dear client, I want to talk to you about the importance of providing an appropriate environment for children in a tattoo studio.
The day of your appointment with your tattoo artist has arrived, and you have to bring your baby or child. What are you going to do? Before making a decision, we want to give you some clues as to why it’s better to leave your little one with a family member, babysitter, or trusted person. It is essential for children to have a safe, adapted, and protected environment that promotes their well-being. Therefore, a tattoo studio is not the appropriate place for them.
At Rolling Tattoo, we understand the love and dedication that comes with being parents. I am a parent myself. For this reason, I recognize that a tattoo studio is not the best environment for children to spend time, even if it is for a short period. After 10 years of experience and taking care of my clients, I have had some difficult experiences due to the activity of children in the studio. And although their presence may be tolerated at times, it is not the most suitable option, as it can put both their parents and the tattoo artist in a compromising situation that could be avoided.
Here are some facts you should consider:
- Health: Tattoo studios involve the handling of bodily fluids, tools and sharp objects, chemical materials, and other potentially hazardous elements. Exposing children to these risks is inappropriate and can endanger their health.
- Emotional well-being: Children require special attention and an appropriate environment for their emotional development. Keeping them in a tattoo studio for long hours, without proper distractions, and surrounded by adults, can lead to boredom and cause them to express their creativity in inappropriate places and times.
- The artist’s work: As a tattoo artist, I practice my profession and passion in an environment that requires concentration, calmness, and precision, which fully engages me in the tattooing process and the comfort of my client. Crying, shouting, unexpected movements, and other distractions can interrupt my work and even lead to potential errors for which I cannot be held responsible. If you want a good tattoo, you need your tattoo artist to be comfortable and focused.
- The Studio: The studio environment is designed for the comfort and entertainment of adults. In addition to displaying valuable artistic pieces, sculptures, and prints (some of which may have adult themes or be puzzling for someone under 16), there are glass display cases, electronic devices, and controls. It’s a world full of possibilities for unexpected incidents to occur.
With the goal of protecting and ensuring the well-being of children, I have decided to educate my clients and inform them that a tattoo studio is not the ideal place for their children. This measure is taken out of love for the little ones and the desire to provide them with safe and, above all, age-appropriate environments.
